JASNA Chalet Resort; Kranjska Gora, June 18, 2025
The first Alpine Botanical Garden has sprouted at JASNA NATUR Resort, created in collaboration with the JULIANA Botanical Garden from Trenta. This unique project represents a new chapter in respecting and preserving Alpine flora, offering guests an exceptional nature experience in the heart of the Julian Alps.
A natural corner adorns the terrace of JASNA Chalet Resort, offering views of the mighty Alpine scenery, Lake Jasna, and the gravel bed of the Pišnica River, at an altitude of approximately 800 meters. The location is situated on the outskirts of the Julian Alps, just a stone's throw from the entrance to Triglav National Park, which gives it special significance and exceptional natural value.
A rock garden with large carbonate rocks from the local environment, situated next to the terrace, is home to numerous perennials, energy plants, and medicinal plants that do not require much water and thrive in cooler, sunny, or semi-shaded environments.
The special charm of the garden lies in its seasonal dynamics: in spring, visitors will be delighted by spring heather, bluish-colored pasque flowers, alpine anemones, and crocuses. Later, edelweiss, lilies of the valley, alpine asters, yellow buttercups, carnations, houseleeks, and stonecrops will bloom. In autumn, mountain garlic will attract attention, while lady's mantles will adorn the rock garden with their leaves throughout the year. Among the woody species, dwarf mountain pine – a typical conifer of the Alpine world – will mark its presence.
Special attention is also given to medicinal plants, which are highly valued in the Alpine region. Most species also thrive in the Juliana Botanical Garden in Trenta, which further connects these two important botanical centers and provides the garden by Lake Jasna with a special professional background and authenticity.
The project represents an important step in preserving and promoting Alpine flora, respectfully honoring the Alpine nature and cultural heritage of Triglav National Park. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover the natural heritage of the Slovenian Alps through its plants. The garden will continue to flourish in the coming months, accompanied by numerous floral spectacles throughout the year.
You are invited to visit us in all seasons.
