Three hearts bench
"Bench of Three Hearts" by Lake Jasna: a place for love, rest, and connection!
JASNA NATUR Resort; Kranjska Gora, June 18, 2025
A new addition stands by the popular Lake Jasna in Kranjska Gora, intended for young families and all walkers – the handcrafted “Bench of Three Hearts,” which invites rest, quiet, and gentle closeness.
The “Bench of Three Hearts” symbolizes family – mother, father, and child. With its shape and placement by the lake, it creates a sanctuary where mothers can rest peacefully, breastfeed their babies, and change their diapers, all while remaining connected to nature and the tranquility of Jasna.
The special feature of the bench lies not only in its functionality but also in its unique origin. It was crafted by students of the woodworking program at the Slovenj Gradec and Muta Secondary School under the mentorship of architect, sculptor, and Master of Painting, Mr. Boštjan Temniker. He spoke about the creative process of the bench, which intertwines with his personal artistic expression:
“The idea in my head is always first a thought, a mist, a premonition, an apparition,... which I try to make as concrete as possible through the creative process, visible with other eyes – the eyes of the soul. (...) Only after repeated exchanges of certainty and uncertainty does birth, creation, the transition from the world of thoughts into the real world, occur. This transition, carried out with the literacy of hands and empathy for matter, represents for me the act of creation, during which everything else around me becomes insignificant at that time.”
The bench is made from solid Slovenian larch, structurally assembled with the help of wooden dowels, minimally glued with environmentally friendly waterproof adhesive, and protected with natural oil. Its soft, concave-convex lines subtly echo the vegetation and anthropomorphic forms, embracing the user with the warmth and aesthetics of the natural environment.
Adding a valuable note to the creative spirit of the project is an interesting artistic fact: Boštjan Temniker was, during his student years, the last pupil of the legendary sculptor Stojan Batič, creator of the famous Zlatorog, which proudly stands by Lake Jasna. Thus, the student's work today complements the teacher's work and symbolically connects generations of Slovenian visual art.
On this occasion, we wish to express gratitude to everyone who contributed to the realization of this unique social and artistic initiative – from young creators to mentors and the support of the school administration. Sincere thanks go to the school principal, Mr. Bernard Kresnik, who, with his vision and support, enables students to create exceptional works and provides mentors with space for dedicated pedagogical and artistic development.
The “Bench of Three Hearts” – a sanctuary for tender moments – is more than just a functional piece of furniture; it is a symbol of love, connection, and natural harmony, inviting all walkers by Lake Jasna to take a moment for rest, connection with nature, and a loving embrace.
