Three hearts bench

The "Three Hearts Bench" at Lake Jasna: a place for love, rest and connection!

JASNA NATUR Resort; Kranjska Gora, 18 June 2025

A new addition to the popular Jasna Lake in Kranjska Gora, designed for young families and all walkers, is the handmade "Three Hearts Bench", which invites to rest, silence and gentle closeness.

The "Three Hearts Bench" symbolises the family - mother, father and child. Its shape and its location by the lake create a shelter where mothers can rest, breastfeed and swaddle their babies in peace, while staying connected to nature and the tranquillity of Jasna.

The bench is special not only because it is functional, but also because it is unique. It was made by students of the woodworking programme of the Slovenj Gradec and Muta Secondary School under the mentorship of architect, sculptor and Master of Fine Arts in Painting Mr Boštjan Temniker. He spoke about the process of creating the bench, which is intertwined with his personal artistic expression:

"An idea is always first a thought in my head, a haze, a hunch, an illusion... which I try to make as concrete as possible through the creative process, to make it visible with other eyes - the eyes of the soul. (...) It is only after the repeated alternation of certainties and uncertainties that the birth, the creation, the passage from the world of thought to the real world takes place. This passage, made with the help of literacy of the hands and empathy with matter, is for me an act of creation in which everything else around me becomes irrelevant for the time being."

The bench is made of solid Slovenian larch, structurally assembled using wooden dowels, minimally glued with environmentally friendly waterproof glue and protected with natural oil. Its soft, concave-convex lines subtly flirt with vegetation and anthropomorphic forms, embracing the user with the warmth and aesthetics of the natural environment.

The creative spirit of the project is added to by an interesting artistic fact: during his student years, Boštjan Temniker was the last pupil of the legendary sculptor Stojan Batič, the author of the famous Golden Horn, which stands proudly by the Jasna Lake. Today, the work of the pupil complements the work of the teacher and symbolically links generations of Slovenian art.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all those who have contributed to the realisation of this unique social and artistic initiative - from the young artists to the mentors and the support of the school management. Our sincere thanks go to the school's headmaster , Mr Bernard Kresnik, whose vision and support enable students to create excellence and mentors to have the space for dedicated pedagogical and artistic development.

The "Three Hearts Bench" - a shelter for tender moments is more than just a functional piece of furniture; it is a symbol of love, connection and natural harmony, inviting all walkers on Lake Jasna to take a moment to rest, connect with nature and embrace love.
